What kind of music will we use in the program?
The whole point is to teach you how to mix the music you love. The secret to great DJing is knowing lots of different kinds of music, so we’ll explore a wide range of styles. In his own sets, Jayden frequently mixes hip-hop (old and new), reggaeton, rock, electronic, and much more—and he’ll help you apply the same skills to your favorite genres.
Do I need my own equipment or DJ software?
No. You don’t need any gear to get started. In fact, part of the program is helping you figure out the right controller, turntables, and software for your goals and budget—a decision that’s often overwhelming without an experienced DJ. Jayden’s professional setup will be used in lessons. If you already have your own gear, perfect—you’re welcome to bring it and learn directly on your own equipment.
Do I need any DJ experience or background knowledge?
No experience required. The program is built to take complete beginners and turn them into functional, performing DJs who understand music structure, mixing, and live set flow.
I’m an experienced DJ. Will this still be useful for me?

MEET YOUR TRAINER, DJAYDEN
Music has always been at the center of Jayden’s life. He grew up playing piano and saxophone, played in Jazz Band, and even taught younger students—then everything shifted when he discovered hip-hop. That spark led him into DJing: he started with a free DJ program, taught himself through YouTube, and leveled up with support from mentors like DJUj and formal training with DJ Miss Meg, an official Chicago Bulls and Chicago radio DJ.
From his first public set, Jayden quickly became a familiar name in the Clarendon Hills, Hinsdale, and greater Chicagoland area, playing community events, private parties, and local gatherings, as well as hosting his own radio show on WHSD 88.5 FM.
Now he’s excited to bring that experience to new DJs. Grateful for the support he’s received, Jayden believes real mastery means learning it, doing it, and teaching it—while giving back to the community that helped him get behind the decks in the first place.
