DEREK BERG
From an early age, Derek Berg was immersed in the world of music—first as a jazz pianist under the mentorship of Wellington Schiller (Frank Sinatra’s go-to pianist in Chicago), and later as a national touring artist with the band Phix. But it was in the studio—long before the days of drag-and-drop DAWs—that Derek found his true calling.
Producing music when everything had to be dialed in by hand—no templates, no shortcuts—taught Derek the foundation of great production: clear arrangement, intentional mixing, and deep listening. Because of that foundation in the analog world, Derek brings that same depth and focus into today’s digital workflows—without relying on the hacks and shortcuts that are so common today. That mindset now fuels his work with singers inside the Music Creation Academy.
In the Music Creation Academy for Singers, Derek collaborates directly with vocalists of all experience levels—even those with no background in production or instruments. His sessions are designed to be non-judgmental, creative, and empowering. Whether you’re walking in with a melody, lyrics, or just a voice memo idea, Derek helps turn your spark into a fully produced, release-ready track.
